About the research database (Read me!)

Tags:

The research database provides a form in which you can input details of current and future research.  To input information, go to page "Research database - input", and to view, filter or search records, go to "Research database - view".

When using the form:

To insert a date, click on the 'calendar' icon to the right of the input box.

A red asterisk indicates that the field is mandatory.

When you've completed filling in your information, click submit - if all is well, you'll receive a message stating that upload is complete. If not, you'll be directed to the field that needs attention.

WHEN ADDING INFORMATION, PLEASE 'EDIT' AND SCROLL TO THE FOOT OF THE PAGE - THEN AMEND THE DATE AND NAME OF THE LAST UPDATER.

When using the records:

The view at present is a list view, showing all details in each field.  This can be altered (elsewhere!) so if it is impractical or unwieldy as the number of records increases, I can change the view on request.

The records can be searched or sorted using any field.

Records can be edited by clicking on the "Edit" option at the start of each record.  Clicking on the 'graph' icon next to that shows a summary of the record.

Records can be exported as spreadsheets (Excel and others), HTML, PDFs, CSV files or as RSS if you'd like to track updates.

PLEASE NOTE: editing privileges for the records exist for all those who have access to this wiki (i.e. ARO members).  If you accidentally delete someone else's record - don't panic, there is an option to revert to an earlier version of the wiki so it can probably be recovered.

Also worth noting that as the wiki is open for editing by all group members, you can invite other observatory colleagues to contribute to the database if they are a more appropriate person.  That said, please be aware that this wiki should remain for the use of ARO colleagues only and the information contained in the database should be considered as confidential to the Association.
